        I:  have  to  stand  outside  of  my  mind,
                                          like
        A  dog :  gasping  for  breath  with  tongue  outsitretched  and

             Looking  carefully  for  even  a  used  leaf  plate
        The mind's  a  silent frozen  lake,  sinking sinking -
        You have to  keep  a  wary eye  for  a  lotus that may be
                                                  thrown  up


        You  have to  run  round  and  round  as  if stung by a  wasp

             Even  if  it's  only  a  fly.
             A  bus  above
             Train below

             A  bridge  in  between
             These  two
             Here  and  hereafter  clashing  at  clarionet speed
        you  remember  the  bridge  crashing  on  to •the  train's  head,



             Here's Here
             Hereafter's  away

             The  speed's the  same
             Time's  different1
             So's tense -·

             Train'  is  long
              Tense  short
