Loves and likes flood both ithe breasts and spray me

with their milk.
I rub a handful of whiskey on my throat.
Beyond me's 1:lhe mirror
Beyond me' s ithe sky
Beyond me the withered leaves,
Gone away frorn the near and dear
I've been called names
From my village to town to New York
WHh no courage to look back -
Flying headlong and spurting foam -
With auitomobiles in a jam
WiLh aircraft, hovering above as a cluster of
dragonflies
Like a rainbubble or a paperboat caught in a
whirlpool
I fall on myself alone finally
Defeated and tirecl
Discarding the plough of the bullocks pulling
My red Cadillac
My necktie rising on the wind
And strangling me and wringing like a wet towel
To drip a drop of whiskey
From my muscle and sinew -
I can pardon myself
Only with vengeance.
Unable to give them a lititle love
Unable to lessen their burden even a litltle
Except once in a blue moon I can't touch
The steady waves o{ their laughter.
I go away farther and farther from them -
Oh : how long I've hidden rne from myself :
To fight anaemia
I take them a dozen shameless oranges
They are gobbled up and ithe pips spat
Against my generosity
Making faces at me
Like someone spitting an expensive whiskey
in my face
In a moonless sky a brow splits red
